B. F. A. from Hongik University, Seoul, Korea, Sang Ho Shin has been the
faculty member of Hongik University since 1980.
He was once the dean of college of fine arts and graduate school of
industrial arts, Hongik University.
His early
works originating from traditional celadon, porcelain and bunchung have
developed into modern ceramics of a total new approach. After a year as an exchange professor at
Central Connecticut States University, Shin¡¯s works have gone through another
transition to a rather different sculptural form.
The very
first Abstract Ceramic Sculpture Exhibition at Press Center Seoul Gallery in
1987 was his break from traditional expression with clay. As a member of committee of The East and West
Modern Ceramic Exhibition and International Workshop for ¡¯88 Seoul Olympic
Games, he showed the ideal way the modern ceramics of Korea should take.
Shin¡¯s
abstract bunchungs expressed in animal or human figures as ceramic sculptures
presented in 1991 exhibition at Art Gallery of Chosun Newspaper were expected
to establish a firm foundation of modern ceramic art and personally, to bring
his traditional works to a final stage.

Art of a Continent> exhibition held in London which drew much international
attention when he was a visiting professor of Royal Academy of Art(1995-1997)

He was
deeply impressed by the primitive energy of African Arts and its artistic
nature that strengthened with time
Shin¡¯s
<Millennium Tie> attached on the exterior wall of Central City, Seoul

His
identity as an artist was once again set strong not only nationally but also
globally through his solo exhibitions titled <DREAM OF AFRICA> at Gallery
Hyundai, Seoul and LongHouse Reserve, New York, USA in 2004.
Amazing variety of 2005 <DREAM OF AFRICA> series and fired

mixture of artist¡¯s creative passion and science technology made Fired Painting
possible and it is characterized by its various colors.Differentiating experiments of its texture
also add more depth to the artworks
